Your questions answered
Can you machine prototypes as well as production volumes?
Yes. Production volumes range from one-off prototypes and R&D samples through to repeatable, full-scale manufacturing in any of our advanced ceramic materials.
What's the difference between green and finished machining?
Green machining shapes ceramics in the unfired state — ideal for complex geometries, prototyping and cost-effective production where moderate tolerances are acceptable. Finish machining uses diamond-based CNC on fully fired ceramics for the highest accuracy and surface finish.
Which material should I specify?
It depends on your service conditions. Alumina is a proven all-rounder; zirconia delivers high fracture toughness; boron nitride suits extreme high-temperature service; aluminium nitride combines high thermal conductivity with electrical insulation; quartz provides high chemical purity.
Can you machine very tight tolerances?
Yes. Our precision machining processes — CNC, grinding, lapping and honing — deliver excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish on fully fired ceramics.
Do you supply machinable ceramic blanks for in-house finishing?
Yes. We supply rods, plates and discs in machinable ceramic grades for customers who want to perform their own final machining steps.
