Burner tips, flame stabilisers and pilot-burner components run hot, oxidising and abrasive. SiC (SiSiC for gas-tight, NSiC for kiln-furniture-style) is the dominant specification — high thermal conductivity moves heat out fast, low expansion tolerates the cycling, and the carbide doesn’t fail-by-erosion the way alumina does. Steatite igniter bodies handle the lower-temperature ignition stage.
Boiler tube thermocouple sheaths and probe protection tubes run in steam, ash and fly-ash environments to ~1100 °C. Mullite is the default for cost, alumina (EA995/EA998) for higher temperature or chemical aggression. Both formats are stocked as standard furnace tubes and produced to custom length on request.
